no signal PVR doesn't seem to be recognising the tv

Hopeless title but I'm not sure what else to call my problem.  I have a HSS-880HCI freeview HD recorder.  A visitor got all the remotes muddled up last night and now freeview won't work at all.  The message 'no signal' is all that appears and when I turn the freeview box on all I can get is the time or this series of letters r002.  I tried just turning it off at the wall and turning it back it on but that doesn't work.  Do I need to reset the box?  If so how do I do that?  Any other suggestions welcome.  thanks.
