Prime Television commenced broadcasting on both the satellite and terrestrial platforms on Monday 17th August, 2009.

The availability of Prime is yet another great reason to switch from analogue TV to free-to-air digital TV.

The TV3 Plus1 channel is broadcasting on both Freeview satellite and on the Freeview HD terrestrial platform.

The TV3 Plus1 channel is to commenced broadcasting officially from the 30th of March 2009. The channel showcases TV3s entire schedule on a one-hour delayed basis.

Analogue likely to be phased out by 2012.

A report commissioned by NZ On Air has found the uptake of digital TV is going well and more than half of all New Zealanders are already watching digital TV.

Approximately 55% of households now have digital television provided via either Sky TV (45%) or Freeview (10%).

New Zealand broadcasters plan to switch off analogue television services once the 75% threshold is reached or in 2012, whichever comes first.

Chinese TV8 broadcasts news and current affairs from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan as well as popular drama series, variety shows of diverse formats, documentaries with an Asian emphasis and a wide range of Asian focused infotainment.

New Zealand's favourite channels: TV ONE, TV2 and TV3 are all now broadcasting in High Definition on Freeview HD

The long awaited Freeview HD service has officially launched.

TVNZ 7 has now launched on Freeview.

TVNZ news (TVNZ 7) channel has a 1 hour long news bulletin at 8pm hosted by Greg Boyed and Geraline Knox, this news bulletin has more in depth and discussion of news covered in TV One News at 6pm. TVNZ 7 will has 10 minute news bulletins on the hour as well as a weekly political review show, a weekly media review show as well as programs focusing on analysis of current events and documentaries.
